In this article, we will describe the algorithms for obtaining permission for Permanent residence (permanent residence), permits for Long-term stay (DVZ), as well as the Unified Civil Number (EGN) in Bulgaria. In Aliens Act There are many reasons for obtaining the above statuses, the process of obtaining personal cards in Migrations is approximately the same. But, we want to note that in different departments of the Migration Directorate in Bulgaria, the list of documents is different. Therefore, before starting this important procedure, check on the websites of the Migration, or personally visit the department to clarify the list of documents for applying for a permit, and in the Community – for obtaining certificates. So, the cheat sheet/list of documents for Migration:

1. The original international/foreign passport (valid for at least 18 months) and its copy on 2 pages with spreads, where the photo and stamp of the last entry into Bulgaria.
2. Copy of personal card (residence permit) (In some cases)
3. Medical insurance for 12 months (required only for DVZ)
4. Bank statement/certificate on the availability of funds in the personal account (12 minimum Bulgarian wages for all or 12 minimum pensions for pensioners)
5. Documents confirming the availability of housing (or a copy of the notarial deed for the property or notarized copies of the lease agreement and declaration from the owner of the property)
6. Application for permanent residence (form) or DVJ (form)
7. Receipt of payment of the state fee for the consideration of the application – 10 BGN

List of documents for children for Migration:

1. The original international/foreign passport (valid for at least 18 months) and its copy on 2 pages with spreads, where the photo and stamp of the last entry into Bulgaria.
2. Copy of personal card (residence permit) (In some cases)
3. Medical insurance for 12 months (required only for DVZ)
4. Declaration from parents on consent to obtain permanent residence/DVR in Bulgaria for a child (form)
5. Declaration from parents on the provision of housing and finances for the child (Form) (the amount of proof of financial status in the bank account is doubled for each child)
6. A notarized copy of the declaration from the homeowner that he agrees to the residence of family members at the specified address.
7. A notarized copy of the child's birth certificate, translated into Bulgarian.
8. Application for permanent residence (form) or residence permit (form)

Pensioners and family members (spouses) should prepare notarized copies of documents: pension certificate and marriage certificate, respectively. Attention! The lists of documents and fees for obtaining a permanent residence permit (permanent residence) on the grounds of Bulgarian roots or marriage are different from the above! In October 2017, the Bulgarian government approved amendments to the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria to reduce the time for obtaining a permanent and long-term residence permit from three months to two. After receiving a positive result and paying the state fees (permanent residence – 1000 BGN, DVA – 110 BGN), you need to bring 2 photos of 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm in size to the Migration, and after that the Migration prepares a "Notification letter" about obtaining a permanent residence permit or a residence permit and sends it to the Municipality of your city. Make a copy of this letter. It may be useful in the future for the tax office. This letter says that you have received the status and the Migration asks to enter you in the population register of the city. After 10 working days, you will be able to come to the Community and start the procedure for obtaining the EGN. If you obtain Bulgarian citizenship, then you will be given a decree on obtaining Bulgarian citizenship. To start the procedure for obtaining a EGN in Bulgaria (Single civil number), you need to complete a survey and fill out a questionnaire in the Community of your city. After that, within 3 working days, you will receive three Certificates: for the registration of the population, for the permanent address and for the real address. Here are the documents on the list that must be submitted to the Community. – Document/and for self-person: Passport + copy; Personal card + copy – Certificate of birth: Birth certificate (translation + copy) – Act for excluded civil marriage (ako imate tak'v): Marriage certificate (if married), (all marriages) – Certificate of birth for detsat V (ako imate takiva): Birth certificate of the child (Heir) – Act for divorce (ako imate tak'v): Divorce certificate (if any) – See the act on the spruga (ako imate takiva): Death certificate of the spouse (if a widow) – Notification letter: Notification letter from the Migration Department on obtaining a permanent residence permit or a residence permit (or a decree on obtaining Bulgarian citizenship) – Application for a certificate for registration in the population register – Applications for a permanent address – Address card/Application for real address – A notarial deed (original and copy), if You have your own property – Lease agreement and the owner's consent to your residence at the address, certified by a notary! Note: The owner of the property can come to the Community to confirm your residence at the address. In this case, notarization of lease documents is not required. The owner certifies the existence of real estate on the spot with the help of a notarial deed.  Attention! The list of documents can be supplemented or changed. In different cities, the lists of documents and samples differ from each other. Therefore, you need to contact the Community of your city yourself and clarify its composition. You may also need proof of payment of property tax and, if there are siblings in your records, then their birth certificates must also be submitted to the Community. "For yes figurative brother/sister in the record of Vi (ako imate takiva) shche ragva da se predstavlyut akteve za razhdane i za tyakh" All documents requested by both Migration and Communities must be translated into Bulgarian, and some of them must be notarized. After receiving certificates from the Community: for the registration of the population, for the permanent address and for the real address, you go to Migration and apply for a personal card.
